Bear of Rodborough Wedding: So it was off to the Bear of Rodborough for James and Sarah’s autumn wedding – my last trip here was with Simon and Lucy last year and following the wonderful scenic shots we got then up on the common, I was eager to return.
Sarah had chosen to stay at the Bear the night before so I headed over in the morning to meet her and her family and of course to get some shots of Sarah getting ready for her big day. I actually live close to the Bear and regularly visit with my family for a coffee after a hearty walk up on the Common so am very familiar with the hotel as well as the beautiful surrounding countryside. I’d already briefed both of them about the photographic opportunities only minutes away and they were keen to explore but more of that later…
After having spent the morning with Sarah and her bridal party, I headed downstairs just in time to meet James arriving in a big Chrysler which Sarah had booked as a surprise. Then with approximately half an hour to spare before the ceremony itself, I popped across the road to get a few shots of the Bear and its surroundings (always useful for those detail shots in the album after).
The ceremony went perfectly, Sarah looked wonderful and James stumbled over his words a little but it really didn’t matter a jot as everyone was simply enjoying just being there. Following champagne and canapes and a few group shots in the garden,it was off up to the common for some pictures of the two of them set against the beautiful Cotswold scenery. For anyone getting married at the Bear of Rodborough, make sure you take the trouble and make the time to get away to the nearby common for 20 minutes or so because the pictures you will get as a result will be worth it, trust me.
James and Sarah are a lovely couple and it was a joy spending the day with them. Here’s to the next time at the Bear! In the meantime, have a look at some of the pictures from the day…
