London Christening Photographer
Greek Orthodox Christening and Family Portrait shoot, Cathedral of Saint Sophia, London W2
Word of mouth is a wonderful thing. Grace came as a recommendation from a wedding I shot a while back in the Summer (thanks, Marie-Helene!), had seen the wedding album I produced and called me to see if I would be free to take pictures of her daughter being christened. Always one to try something unusual and different – Greek orthodox christenings involved a lot more splashing around, explained Grace – I gladly agreed to be her christening photographer and was very pleased I did.
Apart from the beautifully ornate interior of the Cathedral of Saint Sophia, the ceremony was very interesting and definitely “wetter” than I’ve been accustomed too! I was actively encouraged to get in among the action and capture the emotion of the occasion which was initially a little unsettling but then became very rewarding once I knew this was the norm and getting close was perfectly ok and encouraged.
After the ceremony, a small gathering of friends and family headed back to the delightful Oak Pub in Westbourne Park Road which gave me the opportunity to take some less formal shots of Grace, her family and friends and countless, beautifully behaved and very photogenic children!
Here is a selection of pictures from the Cathedral of Saint Sophia and the party that followed…
