London Engagement Shoots

In my opinion, engagement shoots (or pre-wedding shoots as they are sometimes called…) are an invaluable part of the service I offer to my clients.

 Why? Well, apart from being enjoyable, engagement shoots offer the chance for bride, groom and photographer to gel, get to know each other and develop a rapport. Is the bride or groom camera shy? Do either of them have any aspect about themselves that they are uncomfortable with or, conversely, may even want to show off? Do I have a particular personality or shooting style that they may benefit from experiencing prior to the big day (I’m actually very friendly and quite normal before you start wondering…)? These, and many more little idiosyncrasies can be ironed out during the engagement shoot so that on the day of the wedding, everyone – me included – is relaxed and soaking up the wonderful day.

I always approach the engagement shoot as an informal, pre-wedding get together over a coffee to run things through and to talk about any last minute changes or requests that have been made so that on the day I’m well and truly on the ball. The shoot usually follows this and can be anywhere but I usually suggest the wedding venue itself in order to spec out a few prime locations and get some nice shots at the same time. I’m keen to stress that this is a fun session and for my clients to just be themselves! Always works and from my experience, engagement shoots are a hoot…
