Royal Holloway College wedding photographer: My last wedding of 2012 was at the architecturally stunning Royal Holloway College in Surrey and I was really looking forward to meeting my couple (Joe and Louise) again, given that we’d had such fun at their engagement shoot in the nearby Savill Garden not long before. The weather forecast had been pretty awful and annoyingly accurate as it turned out, so it was with some trepidation that I packed my gear and headed off with wipers set on max.
First stop: The Bridge Hotel in Chertsey to meet Louise and her wedding entourage and to get a few getting ready shots. It never amazes me how frantic these mornings are but always, always fun and with what seemed like the whole hotel in the room at one point, the smiles and pictures came thick and fast! Once finished, it was off to the Royal Holloway College to meet up with Joe and the lads and to get some relaxed pre wedding pictures before the wedding service. Considering its primary use as a place of education, the Royal Holloway College manages with effortless ease to transform itself in to one of Surrey’s most striking wedding venues with its majestic 135 acres of surrounding parkland and exquisite Founder’s Building: the main building on the campus and where all of the day’s wedding action would take place.
The College Chapel itself was where Joe and Louise would be married so off I trotted ready to capture Lou on her journey down the long, elegant aisle. Fortunately, during the ceremony I was also able to head to the back and climb the stairs for a fabulous view of the whole service, capturing the scale of the chapel and its ornate decor too. This is a must have shot so make sure if you are getting married here you check your photographer doesn’t suffer from vertigo! Unfortunately I do but sometimes a man’s gotta do…
The wedding breakfast was held in the Picture Gallery, home to one of the country’s finest art collections, and I had to be very careful not to trip on one of the low security ropes in case it set off the alarm and forced an evacuation of the building! Wouldn’t have been too popular there. A beautiful place, some fine, funny speeches and a few tears for good measure – perfect.
Finally, it was time for everyone to don their boogie boots – a time I really enjoy and although I’m usually pretty tired by now, some of the best wedding moments and pictures are to be had in the later hours and Joe and Louise didn’t let me down! And I should mention that considering this day was all about them, they both looked after me fantastically throughout and it was an honour to spend this special day with them.
Here are a few of the pictures from the day and if you like them, please tell your friends and family and maybe leave a like on my Facebook page or follow me on Twitter. Enjoy…
